So here is what I've got started for my latest knitting project, a Christmas stocking for my nephew, Jacob.  





 When my brother asked if one of the crafty ladies in my family could create a stocking for my nephew, I jumped at the chance to do it.  He told me that he wanted something "in blues, with a sports theme."  Since I'm pretty much a newbie to knitting, having only a few completed projects under my belt, I was a little nervous about his request but I think it's coming along rather nicely.  I'm sort of winging the pattern, using pieces of different ones to create what I think will turn out rather well and accommodate his request.  I'm planning to do the entire rest of the stocking in the dark blue and then, once the actual sock itself has been completed, make a few sports-related items (baseball, basketball, football) using i-cords which I'll then attach to the sock.  So far the hardest part was stitching the name, but I'm pretty proud that I was able to do it and that it came out readable.  I just hope that they like it!
